Welcome to the Rock Island Public Library's BiblioBoard Creator Digital Archive.
In partnership with The Great Quad Cities Listen project of WVIK Quad Cities NPR, we invite you to submit photos, documents, videos and other digital collections to support stories you've recorded with WVIK. Your contributions will be organized into collections that share your stories about what it's like to live, work, and play in our great Mississippi River region. Our Downtown Library is one of many taping sites. We encourage you to schedule an interview time today! See below for details about what to submit and how you can be part of the Great Quad Cities Listen.
Submitting Your Digital Content
You have a story!
Submitting materials to our archive is free, and takes just a short time. You are welcome to submit as many pieces of digital content as you would like. Before you submit, please make sure that your content is:
- Connected to a story recorded through The Great Quad Cities Listen. To arrange your own interview time, please visit the Great Quad Cities Listen website.
- An original work to which you own the rights.
What Digital Content Can I Submit?
Your submissions to this archive help provide background and detail
to your story. WVIK producers will edit stories for podcast and
broadcast use. This site will hold full-length audio files of each
interview, allowing you to revisit your interview.
We encourage a wide selection of materials that add to your Quad City story. Photos, family recipes, newspaper articles, maps, diaries, letters, and programs can all add life to your story.
Accepted File Formats
Books/Written Material (ePUB and PDF), Images, Audio files and Videos
How Do I Digitize My Content?
Local resources exist for do-it-yourself scanning and digitizing
of print photos, postcards, and documents. Services also exist
that will transfer VHS and home movies to a digital DVD. For details,
please contact our Reference Department at 309-732-7341.
For audio recordings, please visit the Great Quad Cities Listen site to schedule a recording time for your story. WVIK producers will upload your taped interview.
Documents, Letters, & Other Materials
Materials should be submitted as a PDF or ePub file. Word documents
should be converted to PDF or ePub format before uploading. To
do so, you can use PressBooks Public, a free publishing software
provided by RIPL that lets authors produce professional ebooks.
To use PressBooks Public, create a BiblioBoard Library user account first through www.rockislandlibrary.org. Then use those credentials to log into PressBooks Public and create your file. Once your file has been converted to a PDF, download it, then return to this page and click Submit Your Digital Items.
Organizations: Interested in digitizing local history to a Rock Island Library Creator anthology? Please contact our Reference Services Manager at 309-732-7302 or RILibRef@rigov.org for details.
